unexpected fry in my tank

I have about 50-75 Gourami fry in my tank. The male Opaline Gourami was very aggressive to the other fish in my 55gal prior to the fry appearing so I wasn't too surprised. The male is still be very aggressive to the other fish and is pretty much keeping all of the other fish into one corner. I tried to trap, net, and use a turkey baster to put the fry in a breeder box but have had little luck getting more then just a few in the box. Is it really necessary to get the fry into the breeder box? My tank is heavily planted with lost of floating plants. What should I do about the aggressive male? This is the first time I've had any fry in the tank, I didn't try to get them to breed. I have know idea what to do. Also what should I be feeding them? Thanks for your help.

First off, congrats!!
I would leave them be for now, unless you see the male actually injuring your other fish.
They can eat very fine fry food that betta fry also eat.
Kensfish.com has some good fry foods.

CONGRATULATIONS! Gourami fry, wow, that's pretty cool

The only thing I could find on breeding gourami is that the fry needed to eat fry food because they have tiny mouths. I would say very finely crushed brine shrimp and flake would be good until someone can come along with more information.

I'm sure one of our more knowledgeable members will be along shortly that can provide more complete information.

Thanks, it was a pleasant surprise! the male does have some "bruises" on his forehead from ramming other fish but none of the other fish appear to have any injuries. So they should be fine free swimming in my large tank? Will the other fish try to eat them? Will the male keep his aggression towards the other fish for a long time?

I think if your tank is heavily planted, you should have some survive.
With what's in your tank, it should be okay.

Haven't been on for a while. Just wanted to give an update on my fry. 10 made it and are all doing great. A few of them are starting to get pretty big. It's amazing to see how fast they grow.
