breeding rainbow sharks

hi all im new to the site and new to breeding. I have had fish most of my life and my dad has too so he gives me alot of help as well, but never breeded fish. I know rainbows should have lots of room and hiding. I know it is very hard to breed them when they dont like each other. most ppl i talk to say i should start with batas but to me there are too many out there. Right now i have a 35gl show tank and 4 rainbow sharks (2 of them are albino). Both the black ones are male and for the albinos i dont realy know what sex they are. They are doing good together for now, but what i would like to know is should i get some sand for my tank or will they lay their eggs in the gravel i have in there now? im also trying to find females but cant seem to find them any help will be good

I know that Red Tail Sharks have never been successfully spawned in aquaria, however I'm not sure about Rainbow Sharks. Temperment wise I believe that they're very similar to the RTS so I'm not sure how much success you'll have.

From what I've found on google so far it appears that Rainbow Sharks have the same problem breeding in aquarium as RTS. They're so species intolerant that the typical aquarium is too small. For RTS they recommend at minimum a 100 gallon heavily planted tank to even attempt to keep to sharks together... I think that would probably be what would happen with your Rainbows as well.

If you want to keep more than one shark you need a tank large enough to house 10 or more. That way, the aggression is spread around enough that one fish doesn't get hammered.
