"Well last night I stripped 14 baby Frontosas from my alpha female"

Congrats on the new additions. Would you be so kind as to elaborate on what you mean by "stripped from the alpha female" please.

Thanks, Ken

Holy is that Mike. Congrats!!

aquarist48....with the Africans if you know the date or close to when the female started holding you can calculate when she should spit the fry. Instead of letting her spit in the tank with other fish you can strip her. All it means is taking the fry from her mouth. Some people will use something to pry her mouth open and the fry come out. I used to pour water into the back of the females gills....this would push the water backwards through the gills and out their mouth, pushing the fry out with the water. Just gives you a better survival rate with your fry if you can isolate them, very helpful if you are dealing with a species that naturally has a small batch of fry. I also use this method with some of my Geophagus and Gymnogeophagus.
