My next breeding adventure. Aren't they cute

Ok so I stumbles across these guys!!. Aren't they the cutest little things you ever saw!!. I've never seen these are even heard of them before. I'll need both male and female and I can't seem to find them anywhere
One guy is selling them on Aquabid but it's in a mixed package and only 3 of them and females are pretty rare. So if anyone knows where to get them I'd appreciate it.
Here is a link about them

I've never even heard of them before, but they are too cute!

I really hope you can get a pair and be able to breed them! Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thanks BB. I had never heard of them before either but now I'm dying to get some. Plus they are just too darn cute not to be in hobby more then they are. I'll have to do my part to get them out there so people can enjoy them.

When you are able to, please let me know. I know I can find room for a 20 gallon tank just for a few of them

I've got 9 up and running, #10 is filled with water, but waiting on the acceptance of Karma of a new friend (after quarantine), and #11 is upstairs waiting on some furniture re-arranging before I set it up and then waiting on jellybean cons for my daughter.

Oh, & #12 is under discussion because my daughter wants a betta upstairs as well.

Lucky #13 is going to be kept as a quarantine tank.

MTS symptoms, me Nope. My daughter enables me as much as everyone here

They're really cute and I've seen them in person a couple of times. I don't know too much about them, but I don't think they are very easy to keep. I've read that they can be picky eaters- live and frozen foods would probably be the best thing for them.

I think so, but I couldn't tell you where.

Neat fish for sure. They often look a lot different from the pic, as they can change color quite dramatically.

:; I see. Your daughter is the reason for ALL your tanks.

Only when her grandparents ask They don't lecture her.

She seriously is the cause of about 4 of them. She has 3 of her own and her 4th is going to be upstairs in her "study room".

The other ones are all my fault

I've read where they can be picky eaters. All by fish get frozen foods anyway so I'm hoping "IF" I can find some that are tank raised that they will already be accustomed to eating frozen foods. Several sites I've read say that they are around just not very easy to find. Not allot of LFS carry them but when they do they are usually all male as the females are drab in color. I guess the females aren't imported near as much. I've also read where they display there full color when comfortable and happy and eating well which I'm sure in LFS that isn't the case, but i guess that's most fish anyway.lol..Also when breeding they really brighten up.

If I see them around here, would you like me to PM you the information on the store? Maybe that'll help you find a breeder. I'd offer to buy them and ship them to you, but I don't know enough about them to find a healthy specimen.

Well I got to looking around some more and I guess people are getting the dario dario (which is what I want) confused with it's close cousin Badis badis which is less colorful but offered as a dario dario..hmm..very tricky little buggers..lol...

I have talked to several people and females are next to impossible to get. I'm not giving up though. Hopefully I can talk to the right people and get some little girls. They are the cutest little things and it really is a shame they are not more available. SOOOO I'm going to keep searching. If anyone knows where I might be able to find some females or lead me in that direction I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

they are so sweet looking, I can see how you fell in love with the dario dario ( scarlet ). What a great new tank set up that would be with them as the community fish, and a drawf gourami, I like it! good luck, hope you find a breeding pair, and I will be a customer if you do

Invertz Factory also has them listed at $4.00/ea. I'm sure if you send Pedro an email he can let you know if he has any females.

Cesch, an LFS in my area usually carries them. You might want to give them a call and see if they will ship to you. They are definitely cute little fish

hmmm...I wonder if they ever get any females in. I don't mind ordering online from the companies I've checked with, since they are used to shipping but noone has females..I have one possible lead but it's going to be awhile before they are able to sell any.
I'll call them to see if they have females. Thanks Kate

Ok Kate, Just got off the phone and I'm soooo sad...She said they do get females in, which is VERY weird because usually only males are imported, are they pretty knowledgeable?? but she said they don't ship fish, tanks or stands Geez...I might just drive down there..lol.

Yeah they were once thought to be a dwarf cichlid. They really could pass for one. They are actually a kind of perch...lol..Crazy huh.

I was excited at your first post, because these guys have had badis badis:
http://www.sitfh.com/SITFH_Home
But I now see you want the dario dario...
These guys do ship fish, maybe he can get a line on some from his supplier, but the female issue is still there...

Wish I could help,
