Beginner with Platies

Hello Everyone!
I have recently started up my tank again with 3 Platies, 2 Female and 1 Male. One Female is light orange with a black tail, the other is blue with some black on the base of her tail fin, and the Male has a dark red face and crest along his back with black covering the rest. All very beautiful! I believe that the Females are pregnant, and may have been when I got them. Should I be concerned about the Male being more predatory towards these fry due to the fact that he did not sire them, and what kind of cover should I look into to ensure that at least some of the Fry reach maturity? Also is there any way to predict what colours the babies might have? I am posting some pictures of my Tank, and Fish very shortly on my profile.
Thank you very much for your help!

My experience with my own platies is that both the "Mom and Dad" will eat the fry as quickly as they are born! Some members have had good luck with a heavily planted tank (lots of places for the babies to hide), I have managed to save a few using a breeder box. These fish basically look at fry as a snack, so be prepared. If you can use a breeder box or breeder net, you can safely keep the babies in there until they are bigger than bite sized. There are commercial fry foods available, or you can grind some high quality flakes to a powder consistency. Mine enjoyed hard boiled egg yolk for the first few days, from the end of a toothpick. Good luck with your babies, and welcome to Fishlore!
