I just had 21 baby guppies and i want to put them in a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter. I was wondering if you could put something around the intake to keep them from getting sucked up.

Sorry should add..... if you do get a sponge make sure you dont place the filter tube all the way down the sponge hole. This will restrict water flow and reduce the usable sponge surface area for additional filtration. Secure it with a rubber band as close to the end as you can get. Then after about a month not only did you stop those fry getting sucked up, but you have effectively added another solid layer to your overall filtration process.
