Power filters and Endler's fry?

I have an eclipse system 6 with a trio of endler's in it, (1 male and 2 female), and one of the females it getting 'big', but still looks like it'll be a few days before fry start to show up, and I'm a bit clueless as to whether or not they'll be okay with the filter going. I've got piles of java moss and a good collection of floating plants, so I'm not too worried about predator issues, (I don't think the 2 dwarf frogs could catch anything moving that didn't swim into thier mouth by choice anyway), but I'd like to know if I should do something about the filter, or if they'll be strong enough from the start to handle the little water movement there is in the dense parts of the tank.

with all fry, its recommended to have a sponge or nylon over the intake valve as fry can easily be sucked up in there...both are relatively cheap and it still allows the water to be filtered...the ickies just catch on your sponge and you can rinse that periodically ....goodluck with the babies!

Thanks, I read a few things that mentioned 'adding a sponge filter after a week' but didn't say anything about what happened before that, (not endler's articles), so I was paranoid. I already have a sponge over the filter for my african dwarf frogs.
