Breding Catfish?

Can an Otto Cat and an emerald green cat breed? My Otto is amazing at cleaning the tank and today noticed it has a large underbelly... I really hope it is ok. Question 2: How can you tell male and female Otto catfish? How about emerald catfish?

Nope. ottos will breed with each other and ditto the emerald catfish, but they will not interbreed with each other. Your otto probably just had alot of algae, make sure he has a constant source of it though. Ottos are virtually impossible to sex visually, but males are usually slimmer than the plumper females.

Dropsy? The oto has a large underbelly, as the op describes. Not bloated (all around) or scales sticking out.
Nothing the op said suggests dropsy.
