The angels spawned

They did it. They finally spawned. All the work I did on the tank to get the slate just right and have a nice place for them. Well they chose the anubia nana to lay their eggs on. Mom and dad fanned and really worked hard...they really tried but I could not get the other two out in time. The eggs are gone but I am moving the other two out tomorrow so the couple will have the tank to themselves.

Good for you! I know you must have been excited. From what I understand it may take a couple of try's before they get it right. Glad to hear you're giving the breeding pair a tank of their own. Good luck!

Yipee!!!!
Congrads Sherry!!!
I'm so excited for you. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before they decide to spawn again. Good luck with them and keep us updated on this.

Sorry the eggs are gone. You'll get more.
I've had eggs on filter tubes, heaters, driftwood, right on the tank glass, and mostly sword leaves, but I don't think any of my pairs have ever spawned on the slate. They don't do anything I tell them to.
My nine year old son is doing geology in his third grade class and is having way more fun with the slate than the fish ever did. He writes on it with another rock like a chalkboard. Oh well.
Your angels should lay more eggs in about 2 weeks and it's true they do get better at it each time. Even if they're the only ones in a tank they may just eat the eggs sometimes.

awesome job angels!! (and mommy)!!! at least you know you have a pair now...congrats!!!! (were the eggs a tannish/yellowish, color or all white?) with my pairs, I have to have some type of lighting (I leave my tank lights on ) 24/7 after they spawn or they eat them....you can also have a nite lite or ambient light on a stand beside the tank or anything like that...and also, it takes them sometimes 3-5 tries to get it right in some pairs....but knowing you have a male/female combo, is the best place to start!!!!!

YAY!!!! Good food and water changes even a storm thrown in and they should do this again in two weeks or less I'm so proud for you. My two are still swimming around like best Buds instead of spawning partners LOL

Shawnie...Thanks to some of your comments I left the lights on 24/7..thanks for that little tidbit. All the eggs were a tannish/yellow with just a few white ones...I was thinking tannish were fertile and white were not but I could have that backwards.

Carol...I am tired of the thunderstorms!!! And yes it is the ones I got from Anna she said they had spawned a couple of times before but just had not gotten it right yet. I have to give them credit they worked their little fins off practically. I can't wait for my first angel fry...maybe one day it will happen.

MissMTS...I am working on uploading pics to photobucket. It only took me an hour to upload one...ya gotta love dialup. I was going over to my sisters Sunday to upload from her DSL but my hubby kidnapped me on Mothers day and took me to two great LFS's.
