| Hemichromis Lifalili spawned (Blood Red Jewels) Yippee!!!!...They spawned. Of course it was while I was gone but that's ok. I'm sooo happy they finally did it. Mom and Dad are great parents and taking care of them diligently. Mom is the main care taker. Here are some pics of mom and eggs. |

| Mom is still fanning the eggs. it's so neat to see them trade off duties of taking care of the eggs.
They ate again. I'm feeding them full so they dont get the idea to snack on the little ones..lol. maybe it will work. I have some decapsulated brineshrimp eggs ready and waiting. I can't wait for them to be free swimming little babies!!!..I'll post more pics when they hatch. I want to keep the water super clean for the little guys when should I do my first waterchange. I just did a 30% WC yesterday. |

| It is awesome to watch. They've made a mess of the tank. There are pits in the sand everywhere and sand all over everything. they are not picky where they spit the sand out..lol..But I think I know where they will be keeping the wiggelers and it will be hard to get a pic of..It's a pit they have been working extra hard on and it's behind the pots and rocks. I can't wait to see the little thing though. I hope I can get a decent pic to share. |

| Congrats Cesch!. They won't eat the the eggs or fry, don't worry about that, but there might be some aggression problems between the two after the fry are a few days old, if one of them thinks the other is a threat. My Male Krib will only tolerate the female for about 2 weeks after the fry start swimming, then he attacks her, so I remove her, and leave him in charge for another week or so, before he comes out too. In a tank that contains only the parents you'll get a near 100% survival rate as well. Lots of babies! |

| Thanks for the head up Nick. I'll be watching for that. I have another tank she can go in if need be. If I have 100% survival that's going to be scary..lol..There are about 300 eggs in there..lol. |

| ...Oh my goodness..lol..I'm betting I can find good homes for them but I hope they don't spawn again too soon..I know this is all a part of it but I had no idea they would have this many little ones. If it gets to out of hand I'll have to seperate the love birds..lol..My LFS has regular jewels but not these kinds so I'm sure they will be happy to take some off my hands too.
I've read where the babies turn canablistic on each other and wipe a good portion of them out. I wasn't really looking forward to that so It will be good if 100% do live. Good thing I've got a ton of empty tanks around here. |

| Congrats on the babies. The parents are gorgeous and seem to be doing a great job. You sound like a proud mom/grandma hee hee. Don't forget I really want some of these if they survive so I will help you with getting rid of some of the 300. I had no idea that they had about a 100% survival rate WOW.

Sherry | Thanks!!, They are still doing great. I see little black eyes in all the eggs and I'm expecting them to hatch tomorrow or the day after. Mom and dad are working hard to make sure they are all healthy.
I am a proud grandma..lol.. ..I was impressed they started breeding so fast. I only had the little buggers 3 days before they spawned..lol..
I had no idea they had 100% survival rate either.
I'll def send you as many as you want when they are ready. You have first dibbs. |

| LOL...well I definitely do not need 300 of them that is for sure. Thanks dear on the babies and you are welcome to any kind of babies that I have of course. When my rainbows hatched I just about drove my family nuts. All I could do was sit in front of the tank watching and waiting. I was mom to them because I bought the eggs at the auction in Atlanta and it was my first round with eggs without help from their mom and dad. Carol has some of those babies and I have some of her sunset angels. I so wish I could do just fish fish fish...my job really interferes with my fishy fun!! |

| LOL..Sounds like me for sure. My kids get awful tired of me making them look at the eggs..My 3 year old gets it but my 2 year old is clueless..lol..She'll understand when we have 300 babies swimming around. It's a good thing I have a empty 55 gallon right now. That will make a great grow out tank. |

| Update:
The eggs are no longer in the pot!!.I'm freaking out about it. They either have moved them or ate them. They are guarding a spot behind the pot where they had dug a pit in the sand so I'm hoping they are back there. I don't want to bug them too much so I guess If I start seeing free swimmers in a couple of day I'll know. How nerve racking...In a good way. |

| I bet they are behind the pot if they are guarding it. Oh I am excited for you. I just love fish babies! That should be obvious as we have lost count on tanks around here. Not gonna count just in case my kids want to put me away for being "fish crazy". Keep us posted on the pit they are guarding...I can't wait to hear. Go look at another tank and try to take your mind off of them....I know you cant but I was trying to help...LOL. |
