Is that not funny just how fast you can do a water change when a parent fish is after you. My dempseys have finally figured out it is going to happen but they still don't like it. But now the angelfish last night really looked ticked off at me. You need two extra arms and two extra sets of eyes for that job.

I do have to say I try to work away from the parents....like on the other end of the tank for my own safety unless there is a really big mess around the babies. I really need my hands and fingers.

We need some new pics please.

Just an Update.
They are free swimming now!!!..It's amazing to see them all swarming around with mom. She's still keeping a very close eye on them and they are staying at the back in on area. Here are some pics..I felt bad because dad wasn't getting much of the spotlight so I took some pics of him too...

My husband changes out the sponge filter last night because the other one needed cleaning. This is kinda hard to explain but we have it hooked up to the canister filter...The sponge filters I bought were a complete set..They have the tube hooked up to them and all..So the tube hooks right onto the intake tube of the filter..anyway we had put rubberbands around were the connect and around the intake tube just to make sure it was super tight and to act as a seal. Well somehow about 50 babies got into the tube. ..They didn't make it. ..

RIP babies. I'm so sorry your little lives were cut short.

YUp. The rest are fat and happy. I guess you live and learn but the canister is coming out and were using the sponge filters with the airstones from now on.

As much as we hate it there are always some losses. I hate that yours had to be this way! Glad the others are doing well. I really hate learning lessons the hard way!!!

That was not your fault. No matter what you do you are not going to keep them all alive whether it be a tank malfunction, sickness, or just not a really healthy baby in the first place...like Forest. I was moving some around the other day and got one stuck in the net....panic....trying to get him out without killing him. I don't know if he made it or not. I have lost quite a few this week. The first time I really lost babies was when I vacuumed them up...talk about feeling bad...I saved some but not very many of those.

Just a quick update the babies are gowning SOOOO fast. They look like miniature's of their parents. They haven't got color yet but that won't happen for awhile. They are all very happy and eating like piggies. Can't wait until they get a little bigger. I'll post some pics later.
