Re: Green Terror layed eggs!

If there isn't a male with her to fertilize her eggs they won't hatch, the pleco will probably eat them.

Re: Green Terror layed eggs!

Sorry, I asumed everyone would know there was a male too It looks like the fry are almost hatched. Their tails are sticking out and wiggling around. I put some of them in a floating breeder cup. The rest of them scattered in the bottom of the tank and the female gathered them all back up and is still guarding them! I got some brine shrimp to feed them when they hatch. I'm not sure if there's anything else I need to do.

Re: Green Terror layed eggs!

Just get the eggs and fry away from ANY other fish. I don't think the mum will be guarding them she will be eating them. They have no maternal instincts at all. Good luck with it and keep us posted.

Re: Green Terror layed eggs!

Time for an update. The fry are swimming around now. I have some of them in a floating breeder cup and they're doing fine. The rest are in the big tank and swimming in a school. The female defends them dilligently. If any wander too far she she catches them in her mouth and returns them to the school! I'm feeding them brine shrimp and fine fish flakes.
