so far they look fertile..but after 2-3 days, you will start noticing white eggs and those will be eaten by mom and dad because they arent fertile when white congtrats!!

thanks

how can i make sure they stay healthy? i can't get my gravel cleaner in the tank to suck water out to do water changes because they won't let me lol and i dn't want to stress them.

also have alook at my male when i got him he was really fat, owner didnt know why pet shops just don't have a clue. he has no signs of illness, has he got internal problems? or has he just been overfeed? was told he was fed bloodworm and flakes once a day.

I agree with Shawnie they do look fertile so far to me too. Congratulations!!! Are you going to try and let the parents raise them? If not be sure if the eggs make it to take them out when they start wiggling. Is this your first spawn? Are you sure that the fat one is a male? Have you seen his breeding tube? The males breeding tube is long and skinny. Good luck!

the male has skinny tube and female a fat tube checked this to =D i was emazed when owner said that it was a male because i though it was female i even watched them spawn to. I'm gonn leave them in their and see if i can get them to raise the fry them self, then hopefully the off spring will become good parents and so on. This is my first egg layer spawn, im using angel fish for abit of practices for when my discus are ready for spawning their about 1year 3months old about 4-6inch big have 8 no sign of courting nothing =((

O.K it was worth mentioning. It is hard to know on the computer what fish keepers know and what they don't know. It is so exciting watching the parents raise the fry and it is also cute. Well I hope it works out for you. I love discus I have never kept them but I would like to give it a try sometime. I just might down the road. I was trying to think what could be wrong with your angelfish. How long has he been this way? What all do you feed them?

well i have only had this pair for 3weeks, but i have been told he was fed bloodworms and flakes once a day, one of my discus is bloated to its harder to get a picture of them their not a silly as angel fish =D, but they show no signs of illness, i am just doing a course of Octozin, treats sleeping sickness,hole-in-head,Malawi bloat,Angel fish disease & clown fish disease.

I have done some research into angel fish disease seems thats its mostly internal problems so i'm gonna go through the internal treatments, I don't know if i should move it into a first aid tank so the med. can work better but discus can't been kept on their own they need groups or they become stressed, the other discus are fine and the treatment don't seem to stress or effect them what do you think i should do?

sorry about the picture it won't let me load a better files to big =(

Yes if it is fungus. It could have been that the male didn't fertilize the eggs and that is why they turned white. If this is there first spawn I wouldn't worry about it because they will spawn again and sometimes it takes them a couple of times before they get it right then they are times when the pair will never get it right just have to wait and see but like I said before you can always take the eggs out and raise them yourself. I can't really tell much from the picture did you say you have one angelfish and one discus that was bloated? First I would start with the water quality. What is your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings on both tanks? Please post them for me. If your readings are right and you said the angelfish was fed once a day he could still have been fed to much. Also have you noticed there poop? If there poop is normal should be the colors of what ever you are feeding them. If the poop looks stringy white, slimy or clear then they could have a bacterial or parasites. There is so many things it could be so I'm going to say if there is no other signs of illness and the water quality is right and you think they could have been overfed and his poop is normal I would go with bloat or constipated. If they are pooping then I would rule out constipation. If they are not pooping then I would try some green peas. If it is bloat epsom salt is good for it. 1 teaspoon or 2 teaspoons to 10 gallons of water if not better in a couple of days I would think it was not bloat. I would not feed them during that time. Some people like to raise the temp to about 84 or higher but I wouldn't do that unless you know for sure it is bloat because if it is bacterial raising the temp could cause them to get worse or even die. If you only have the other angelfish in there the epsom salt will not hurt her either but I don't know what all you have in with the discus fish. So before adding anything to either tank let me know about the poop and how long the tanks have been up and the water quality.
