Yeah is there any other way of distinguishing the gender of angels until one lays eggs and if the other doesn't fertilize them it is also a female. Can anyone tell by looking at them, are there any giveaways so when I go to the store I can select a male to start fertilizing the eggs she keeps laying every month?

Not really, sorry. You could buy three or four and then when they pair to spawn return the ones you don't want.
