New guppies, breeding questions

I just got 6 guppies(2 males, 4 females) The next day, one of the females gave birth. I was not ready for this yet, and have only managed to save three fry so far. They are in one of those breeding floating tanks. How long can I keep them in there? Do I need another tank to keep the babies in? I want to breed them and sell the fry to the LFS as a project for my children. Any help would be welcomed!

If you intend on breeding alot of guppies 20+ you will probably have to get about a 10G tank to keep them in, im breeding a moscow blue guppy with 2 females.
I have an 8G which houses around 16 babys, you can re introduce them to the main tank at around 3 weeks-1 month old

Depending on what male you areb reeding will also depend on the price you get for the guppies, you wont get much for females if any at all. But if you have a decent male as the father you should get something for the males
I swap mine into my LFS for store credit so i can get fish and aquarium equipment for cheaper

Here are some pics of my baby tank, its full of algae, but my cherry shrimp love it , they have also had babies

Hi Heather....providing lots of hiding spaces in your tank will help the babies survival if you dont catch them hatching...having that many fems will give you lots of babies ..they can usually stay in their breeder box until they are big enough to defend themselves but the size of the box matters also...if its a long term thing, maybe pick up a 10 or 20 gal setup just for the fry...goodluck!
