| Wigglers!!!! I have a pair of koi angels in the 75 G tank and once in a while they spawn but the eggs get eaten before I can get them out. the other night I noticed tehm defending a corner of the tank, and when I looked down into teh tank I saw wigglers lined up in a line about 3 inches long on the silicon of the corner. I sucked them out with a turkey baster and put them in a fry tank. the pics aren't great but I wanted to share. |

| Re: Wigglers!!!! Butterfly that is so cute! Now you're going to have many baby koi angels. And koi angels are so beautiful ... so you're going to have a lot of fun with the little ones. How many do you think are there? What are you going to do with all of them when they grow up? Are you going to keep at least some? |

| Re: Wigglers!!!! I got some more today!! I got 4 little platys - lucky I saw your photo to know what to look for cos the other platy that was born on thursday was just like a mini platy whereas the newer ones are MUCH smaller and far less developed. I wonder why the other one was so well developed already?? Amazing what nature does... : |

| Re: Wigglers!!!! isn't it amazing!! Since Platys are livebearers you get to see them swim immediately after birth. The fry in the pictures were first angelfish eggs and after three days they hatch and are wigglers.then three days later they were swimming around. Its really so cool. Have three batches of Angel fish eggs right now, koi & marble,Koi and sunset blusher and black lace.

| Re: Wigglers!!!! Thats daddy guarding the eggs(He's one of my babies and is about 18 months old) and he wasn't happy that I was even at that end of the tank Can you tell? LOL there are probably 70 - 100 eggs there. There's always a few that don't hatch or get eaten. I usually average about 25- 50 fry. I think everybody in town has some of my angels all they have to do is say "awww" and they go home with some will try to take pics after they hatch.

| Re: Wigglers!!!! It's always exciting having fry go free swimming. Doesn't take much for them not to survive. This is the only pair out of the three pair that just spawned to have their eggs make it to free swimming. The others just disappeared(mom and dad may have had a snack). Can't wait to see what the fry look like. They should start showing color in a couple of weeks

| Re: Wigglers!!!! Oh no What happened to them? All of them are gone? How? Not even one saved? They were so beautiful, I am saddened I mean, they were already free swimmers, what could have happened to them? Other fish ate them? Were they separated from all the other fish (except for mom and dad) or not? I am so sorry they're gone I really wanted to see them grow (in pictures)! It was life too! And now it's gone Well, maybe next time the fry will make it. Very nice video clip of the mom, Carol, cool. |

| Re: Wigglers!!!! Egg layer fry is so tiny(about 1/4 the size of new born guppy fry) for many weeks that just anything can happen. Sometimes they won't eat or Mom amd Dad have a snack of them, one ammonia spike and their dead. Being so small when they die it appears they just disappear. Sometimes breeding is frustrating but there are days that are so awe inspiring that I don't think I could stop even if I wanted to.
Mom and Dad already have another batch of freeswimmers going. I think I will move the parents this time although I usually leave them for at least a week after they go freeswimming. I like for them to be able to teach their babies what ever it is parents teach their babies in the wild.
Isabella I was sad too. I'm always a little depressed after I lose a batch so glad it doesn't happen often.

| Re: Wigglers!!!! Well then, it's good that they breed often. Since the fry's chances of suvival are diminished, they better breed a lot! And yes, I am the same way - I would also be sad if I had little fry and they disappeared! I even worry for someone else's fry, lol. That's because I am crazy about fish and all other animals, especially cats and dogs, haha Let's hope your new fry will grow to be beautiful angelfish. |
