My dom male was doing his little dance just like my male kenyi and lab around two of the female polits trying to get them to follow him into his cubby hole today.... they are hanging together pretty well!!! (he only has like 6 females to breed with, happy little guy huh, )

So I am going to be on the lookout for a few (hopefully few) holding polit females!!! This is so exciting...

Now if my cynatilapia afra's and hongi can follow what he is doing!

Woo hoo!! So any time you could have fry...how big are they now?

I think they are mature at 2". My male dom cobue has been doing the territorial shimmy with the other 2 males and chasing females. He is two inches. So any time now they could be breeding too, with 6 cobue & 4 more I am getting possibly there are 5 of each sex. I am going to wait to see who are the breeders and sell off the sub dominant males.
I am going to grow out 8 of the 1" acei fry we have to add to the tank. The parents 4 fem and 2 males, are too big for my 55g so they are being sold to the guy who has been keeping them for us, same with the cobalt zebra. Zebra dig to much for my personal tank. But we'll get some different species of zebra for breeding when we get some more tanks for breeding mbuna.

Ours are def 2" long, I love it! I have been wanting some polit fry since I bought the group so this is exciting, I hated leaving the house to go to work, I kept runnig over to the tank watching the females for signs of holding, etc...

I bet you are excited w/ the cobues too! my hai reefs are longer than 2" as well, so it should be anyday w/ them as well!

The only thing holding in my tank right now is the MALE yellow lab Only fish people get excited about fish breeding. Some of us more than others.

Lol, I def have been excited about my bristlenose fry! I have to run to their tank and check on them every day when I come in from work, or when I wake up. I have holding yellow labs as well, and a tank full of yellow lab fry (no one wants any yellow labs right now in my area, I have sold all but 8 of my kenyi fry) I have had local fishstores drool when they found out that I was going to breed hongi, polits, and the afra so I just need them to breed! I just enjoy having the pretty fish in my tank and raising the fry...

honestly I don't care if I make any money off the fry as long as I can recoup money for food, water treatment stuff, etc just support my habit

Exactly how it started for us..the past year we have gotten so many good comments on our fish keeping skills we thought that we could make a business of it.
We are getting into the fish breeding business b/c of the terrible quality fish our LPS has. The manager wants us breed fish for him b/c he has been impressed with how we take care of them. It rewarding for me to grow out quality fish for fun may as well make money out of it.
