Mollys are pregnant!!

Well everyone just wanted to let you know after the slight bit of problems, with aggression and my first female dying, I don't just have 1 female, but 2 that are pregnant!

I think I got the 1 from my LFS and she was pregnant, just not showing the signs at the time of purchase, and the other got pregnant from my male.

Either way, they are both starting to show rounded bellies.. their bellies are much rounder then when I got them, so YAY me!

I'll post pics as they come closer to their due date.

I have to get a breeding box for them though haha.. i'll get a 2 or 3 of them shortly, seeing as how I might even have cherry barb eggs..

so many babies.. it's crazy!!

Cool.. Yea, one of our 4 female platys came home pregnant when we got them last year. They seem to do that a lot.

Well my female molly is HUGE.

Her belly has gotten really big, and so I think there will be fry within the next few days.

btw, how can you tell when she is going to give birth? What kind of behaviors should I look out for? I may end up moving her out of the tank, but want to make sure that I know when she is going to give birth so I can prepare for it.

Livebearers will look for a spot, like a quiet corner with some cover and look squarish on the back end as they get really close to dropping the fry.

ah okay...

though after seeing pictures of some other livebearers that are about to give birth, i'm pretty sure mine aren't yet... lol

okay quick ?

How long are mollys pregnant for?

It's been about 3 weeks (maybe 4), and still no fry.. and her belly hasn't gotten any bigger, though it's still pretty round.

Plus, I don't know what "triangle" to look for.. anyone have any pics of it?

28-32 day gestation period on Guppies, mollies, most swordtails, and platies.

I know this is a guppy, but you see the purple cresent moon shape at the back of her belly? That's the gravid spot.

it's on the side? If so then yes I see it

edit:

If so, then i'm doubting that my molly is pregnant.. the reason I think she is, is because my male leaves her alone, and she has a round belly that she never had before...

but I don't see the gravid spot, and her belly hasn't really changed much for the last 2 weeks
