Okay so every day I see my male sniffing on the female, and though it's been 2 weeks, I see no change (her belly isn't even getting bigger)..

so my ? is does this take a while, or are they just not giving me fry yet?

usually a few weeks once they are the age to breed..she will get very very round so keep an eye out on her belly....do you have a fry tank or lots of plants for them to hide in>?

I have a 2.5gallon that is not filled, but the filter is in use.. I am using the small filter in case of an emergency where I would have to fill the 2.5.

Would that be big enough for the fry?

I do in this tank have some Hornwort, Java moss, Java Fren, and Bamboo, if you think they are fine in the big tank.

only you can tell if you think theres enough hiding places...otherwise mom n dad will eat them..and yes 2.5 is a good fry tank just needs the filter on it of course and id run the filter now to have it all seeded and cycled for when the babies come...

Well the filter is on now in my 20gal with my betta fish to keep it seeded/cycled.

I may end up using the 2.5gal for my fry.. I know I have enough hiding places for them in my 55gal, but my LFS told me to keep as many as I can and they'll buy them off me lol.

AWESOME..just remember to put a sponge or some netting over your filter intake so you dont loose them..you are lucky cause most LFS wont bother with livebearers as they get enough of their own...

yeah my LFS is going to give me some $$'s for them as well :O.. well not really money, but a receipt that I can use as cash in their store if you know what I mean..

The filter is an inside filter.. it's one of those ones that hangs from the inside.. so.. what do you suggest I do with that?

Well I bet I can get a lot of netting.. and I bet wal-mart has some..

Though I'll keep the Oxygen bio filter in mind as well

you dont need the entire filter...just the sponge to go over yours but walmart will probably be cheaper

I've raised fry in tanks with netting over the intake of an HOB and in tanks with sponge filters. I prefer the sponge filters now and have one in the angel wigglers tank.
