Cory eggs...now what

Ok first off i'm gonna let you know i'm not expecting many of them to survive as I not only dont have any experience growing baby cory fry but i don't have experience with any fry... however i would like to try but i don't have a seperate tank to put them in and i'm guessing i don't have time to get a 1-5g and cycle it... so i'm gonna try the hard way... in the tank... i am already planning on getting plants but have yet to accually get any... (btw if you have some of the plants i put in my fw beginners thread and just want to get rid of them i can pay for shipping...) but just having a place for them to hide isn't enough i know i need fry food... where do i get it and how much do i use... i think i can section off a part of the tank for them but it will be tough... also how long does it take them to hatch and then how long before they are big enough to be with the others... i know this is a lot but i am completely lost...

you could try and breed microworms for them, and you can do it at home.

they would also eat special, cory sinking pellets.

A mix of tiny foods will be good. Some folks have raised fry on ground up adult fish food. Cyclopeeze is a brand of high-protein engineered food animal. Brine shrimp are a favorite for all sorts of fish fry. You can see if your LFS (local fish store. Preferred over Petsmart/Petco for this kind of thing) carries frozen microworms, or even breeds them for their own breeding program. They may also have specific fry food.

Given that you had eggs a couple of days ago, I'm guessing it won't be long before they hatch. I'm sorry that we didn't catch that these were likely cory eggs sooner. This leaves you with less time to get everything you need together.

Good luck and let us know how things go.

You could use a new tank for the fry, but you will want to use "Prime" for your water conditioner, test the water with the api master freshwater kit daily, then change 50% of the water after testing each day.

Very good advice Dave! because your going to be doing 50% water changes every day for at least a month it doesn't matter that the tank isn't cycled. The reason for the water changes is that you have to feed them a lot of food in order for them to find/get enough . This food turns to ammonia very quickly so thus the need for the frequent/large water changes. Tank size- 10g is perfect for about 1-1/2 months. With this size tank they don't have to hunt real hard to find food.
It takes the eggs 3-4 days to hatch and then 3-4 days to really start to move around. Cory fry are one of the tiniest fry I've ever seen. Freshly hatched brine shrimp is a favorite. Also mine loved Omega one veggie rounds.
I also put Omega One Shrimp Pellets and Omega One veggie rounds in the food processor and processed it until it was just dust and that worked well.
