Fry Troubles

GRR!! I just got home and was looking for the remains of a piece of cucumer I put in when I found a small whitish/transparentish fry swimming around. I went to grab a net and get my brother to watch it for me, and now it is gone.. I hate when this happens. Does anyone know what fry this could have been, if there is a way I could influence the chances of it still being around, and could there be more on the way, or would they all have come out at once?

Thanks!

I know the feeling! I moved some decorations around and low & behold there were some fry! No one even looked like they were carrying! lol And yes, you go to grab the net and then they are gone! I have stopped taking apart the tank trying to find them, kinda of a dumb thing to do on my part. Now it is the survival of the fittest, with LOTS of hiding places. Good luck!

i have a breeding box... (i just made it with some wood and tarpoline as cover).. hmm.. usually, i get fries about every 2 weeks or so.. coz i've got platies, swordtails, fancy guppies and mollies altogether..

however, if you dont have any plants or rocks placed in your aquarium/breeding box, then for sure, your fries won't survive... their parents usually eat them soon after giving birth.. or if not their parents, other fishes in your community tank..

kinda cute though, coz they also form a school (in my case).. or if not swimming, they "lounge" in the floating plants above them.. they usually feel safe from big fishes.. ^______^
