1 month old already

The baby Africans are nearly ready to go..we have sold a bunch to people who wanted young fry. Here some pixs: purple are the acei, light blue are cobalt zebra and the silvery ones are blue haps...a few males are showing blue a bit already.

They are growing fast, Allie, must be so fun. Hopefully I will get some little kribs..or whatever. Must be so neat always getting to look forward to fry and watching them grow.

We're lucky there are a lot of people keeping African cichlids where we live. We've had people come from an hour out of town for only 3 fish. On the weekend some rich lady is buying 19 cobalt zebra fry & when the yellow labs breed she wants some of them too. She has a ton of tanks all over her house. They have business parties at home. She told us a lot of people ask her where she get hers fish. So she said if we can get some business cards she can past them out at her parties. That would be awesome...a bunch of rich people wanting fish. Hopefully we can get some business out of it.

I get excited about have fry each time someone breeds. It never gets old for me. It's one of my favorite parts of the hobby. Watching little babies grow up.

I take it you are doing an all male tank when you do set one up?

It's really fun to watch them grow up. They are so people friendly that anyone who comes here to buy them loves watching them all come up to them.

Thanks.
Congrats. Yellow lab fry were the first africans to breed for me in 2006. They are so cute when tiny. Yellow right away. Can't wait to see little baby labs swimming around here again.

Im so excited! I can't wait to see them myself.. I see the cobalt zebras are so cute as fry I am about tempted to get some for breeding... The kenyi are getting far to aggressive during breeding time and I am going to get rid of them. Of coarse our blue hap and that little hap that I have that is a female have been pretty close too.. maybe we will get lucky....

your fry are so awesome, I hope mine turn out that healthy!

Kenyi are pretty evil. It seem that the really interesting looking ones are highly aggressive.
Cobalts are hard to get to keep holding. They seem to spook really easy. At least the ones we have had have been.

Now you know why I have gone thru probably close to 30 species now trying to get the right mix.
I love the Mealnochromis chipokae. Someday I want to do an aggressive species tank.
