New babies!!! Please help!!!!!
I have an important question! Yesterday my husband noticed a bunch of eggs on our filter intake thing of our tank, and our angelfish were picking at them so we did some research, and to our surprize, they are from our african dwarf frogs! I was so excited our little frogs layed eggs, so I went out and bought a breeding net, and put them in it very carefully. Now, it said on this article that they were very hard to raise, and was unlikey they would survive, but, I'd like to do everything possible to avoid losing them, and if anyone out there has any advice as to what steps to take, please help us! I'm so excited, but also scared they will not survive! It also said on this article we read that the water should be about 78-81 degrees, and the ph should be a certain amount, but it wasnt specific. So this happened yesterday, and today they still look the same, does anyone know how long it takes for them to develop too? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!

Hi, thank you for replying and congrats on your grandbabies!!!!!!! Well, I am sure there frogs because there is no othere fish in my tank that lays eggs, and, all the other research on the computer, all the pics of the frogs eggs look like the ones we got! But unfortunatley none of them have made any progess so I'm assumming the worst. So anyway, congrats again on you grandbabies, wish you many more beautiful little cherubs!

From what I read they should be doing something soon if they are frog eggs.
Here is an interesting article I found on African Dwarf Frog breeding. Maybe it will help.

Could they be angelfish eggs? They are notorious for laying eggs on the filter intake tube.

THe article that Butterfly linked is excellent, and if you have questions, there are people on that forum who are experts in froggie care.
Good luck!!

After reading the original post more closely I really think it was the angels that laid the eggs. Angelfish are egg layers that just love laying their eggs on veritcal objects, filter uptake tubes, rocks and plant leaves. If it is angel eggs they will hatch in 3-4 days from laying then go free swimming in 3-4 days from hatching.

Welcome! Keep us posted. If they turn white or fuzzy they are no good. But if they stay kind of clear they are viable eggs. When they were picking at them they were probably cleaning them, although frequently angels will eat their eggs the first couple of times they lay.

Thank you very much for the info!! Well, I did some more reading and you are right 100% about the angel fish. So I messed it up and took them out and put them in a breeding net thinking they were from the frogs and they never were even touched by our male angel so they just turned white and fuzzy. I feel really bad but I learned my lesson, and I just wanted to say thank you again. I know it seems silly but I love our little fish and even though they were just eggs I still feel awful. So we will just wait and see if she lays more eggs in the future and next time we will know what to do! Thanks again!

Well, since this was their first batch don't feel bad. Angels rarely get it right the first time and often take 5 or 6 tries to learn. Our Angel pair has spawned 3 times and the first 2 times, the male didn't fertilize the eggs. We managed to save 5 eggs from the 3rd batch - the female was eating them but it looks like the male finally learned to fertilize them this time.. 3 batches.. 5 wigglers.
