| My Angel Fish just layed eggs! What do I do now??? My angel fish layed eggs against the outside of my in-tank filter whisper filter. I am so excited, but I have no clue what to do now. Do I remove the eggs or leave them in there? One of the angels (I don't know if it is the male or the female) is guarding the eggs from the other one who is trying to eat them. I got a 10 gallon tank to put the fry in if they make it. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks! |

| I'm sure they are angel eggs. The only other fish in the tank are cories and tetras and one of the angels is very busy guarding those eggs making sure that nobody comes near them. |

| Are the eggs clear or white? If you have some meth. blue, I'd put a little in there. Our angels have eggs right now and I put about 6 drops in their 30g tank. |

| The eggs are mostly clear with a few white ones. I think the white ones are infertile right? I don't have meth blue, can I get it at Petsmart? Also, where can I find a sponge filter? |

| Congrats on the spawn MissMTS! I wish you luck with them.
Im not sure that I would use any meds in a tank with eggs, even the Meth blue. Its unnatural to the sensitive eggs and you may damage them by using it. Also you are aware that the meth blue will stain your tank and everything in it.
If you have no disease present in the tank, and your fish are healthy, IMO I wouldnt add any.
Let nature take its course.. and it looks like the one angel is doing a good job so far of protecting those eggs. Keep us posted on the progress! |

| The meth. blue is to prevent fungus in the eggs. Not a full dose but a weak underdose. |

| Meth blue is recommended by breeders epecially with Angelfish. The eggs rot very easily. It's the only thing we haven't tried yet. I am not a fan of using meds willy nilly either. Good luck. I hope they turn into wigglers for you. |

| How are your eggs? We have a few clear ones left here, so I'm hoping those are fertilized. Our angels started out eating the white eggs, then started on the clear so i put a fish net over the eggs to keep Fred & Wilma out - they're currently trying to find a way past the net.
EDIT: Ah, I see your new pic. cool. |

EDIT: Ah, I see your new pic. cool. | They are good. They have eaten a lot of the white ones though. What kind of net did you put over yours? I think I may have to do the same thing. Good luck on your eggs as well Quote:

| Well, since ours laid the eggs on the heater, I carefully slid it to the one side of the tank and used the heater I put in (since their regular one is unplugged) to let me stick a regular big fish net in the corner. The running heater keeps the net in place. I'm hoping this will help me catch the wigglers if we get them.
If the heater they laid eggs on weren't so long, i'd have put it in a breeder net and hung that on the side of the tank but no way to keep the eggs submerged on the heater in one of those. Quote:

| That is a really good idea. I have been trying to figure out how I can get the eggs off of my filter, but I am afraid to disturb them. I just don't want any wigglers to get eaten if they hatch while I'm not home. |

| My Angels laid eggs again today aswell. All looks good so far, there is one white egg and the parents are doing a good job keeping other fish away and fanning the eggs.
This is the third time they have spawned so lets hope they get the hang of what they are supposed to do! |

| Our female finally figured out a way past the net to the eggs, she was SO determined! I managed to save 5 good eggs and they are developing. They should be free swimming in the next day or so and ready for BBS -- I hope.
How are your angels' eggs doing, MissMTS? |
