I just so happen to be sitting at the comp desk and see in the corner of my eyes something going on in her tank... she was swiming around strangely... she was going after the fry... eating them!
Luckily I got her moved and saved 2... I literally caught her as she bit at one. I will post pics when I can get some...
Really disapointed, but at least I have 2 cute little fry!

Well at least you have two little mites. I can hardly wait to see pics! Do mouthbrooders usually eat their young?? Or was this an oddity?

They WILL always eat their young. Sometimes they do look after them but I think in tanks they get spooked easily & eat them to protect them from us.

She literally acted starved to death when I got her moved to a holding tank, I think w/ that in mind and the fact this was her first batch had a lot to do with what happend...

Yea, I think so. She will do better with future batches and I'm glad you were able to save those 2 fry.

I hope she does, BTW the fry are doing great! They are swimming around a lot more today, they get under the rock in the tank (I left 2) and I lift them up and move them to get the fry to swim out so I can put the food close to them (I have live BBS, and powered rapid growth food). They are too cute!

Thanks, I have been so busy this weekend I haven't got to get any pics, not to mention, we took over 200+ pics at the aquarium in chatt yesterday of the fish and kids and I drained both of my rechargable batteries, then I spent all of today working in the house, doing laundry, then cleaning all but one tank... I still have a new tank to set up...

I should have some pics up tomm after I sleep from this dreadful nightshift.. I hate being super busy, but this night is BORING! I have had 7 patient procedures all night, so the internet is the only thing keeping me awake...
Im about to go to the ekg room and go to sleep on the cot...

The fry though, they have turquoise eyes like the kenyi mother... I can tell that already.. (I will just have to use the macromode on my dig cam and post a pic!)
