I think they'd be fine in the 20g, just be sure the filtration won't suck them in is all.

I think you are all set to go in that 20 gal if the filter is from a fully cycled tank. Why aren't you going to use the gravel? Are you going no gravel for easier clean up? If not, why not use the gravel, more bacteria to keep the cycle going strong.....How often are you changing water? I'd be sure to do a 25-50% change each day to keep those babies growing strong...
Sounds like you lucked out with this new project, good luck!

COBetta- The filter would be the same as what is in the 2.5Gal. We originally had it on this same 20Gal when we had a piranha in it. It's rated at 118GPH. The good thing is I know it won't suck the fish in with the sponge and plastic piece on it even on full flow.

sustina- We put new gravel in it that we are going to use with the terrarium. I rinsed it out too. Right now it's due for a water change in the 2.5Gal, and I didn't know how much I was going to do in the 20Gal, but I will do the 25-50 percent. Yeah, so far we have been pretty lucky.. with the terrarium, it is on hold anyways as I was debating filters and we had to wait for the frogs to get in stock where we want to buy them. So far so good though

Thanks for the info and quick responses. I will probably move everything later tonight.

Looks very nice! I think they will be very happy in the bigger tank. I've found that they seem to grow faster if they are in a larger tank (ive raised some in a 5 gallon tank and a 20 gallon tank). Or maybe it was my imagination!

Thanks. They do seem to be growing faster (maybe it is both our imaginations, lol). Plus I've been feeding them twice a day too now instead of one large feeding.

They seem to be doing very well. There was one "odd fish out". At first we thought they just had a silver eye. But when we went to move them, my wife noticed the fishes head was kind of deformed. They are actually missing their eye! Other then that though we haven't lost any (that we know of) and the deformed one isn't getting singled out or not eating.. seems to be fitting right in. Will post some more pics if your interested.

Red fins grow super fast considering how big they gt as adults. So it's probably not your imagination at all. Red fins are the cutest fry especially when they are like 2 months old. All eyes until they get 3"+.
Congrats, they are looking good. I feed my fry 4 times a day...which seem help them grow even faster.

Update:

Their fins have a lot more yellow/red in them and you can actually see the white on the bottom fins (not visible in picture)
