My firemouths had babies!!!! So far they are excellent parents and the babies are free swimming. There must be atleast 200. does anyone have any ideas on what I should do with them?

Congrats! Can't wait to see pics! I've not had cichlid fry, but small food - like cyclopeeze flakes or cichlid food crushed to bits tiny enough for the fry (even powder) would be good.. baby brine shrimp for live treats for them and sometimes a small amount of crushed boiled egg yolk.. those are general good foods for fry.

thank you for the suggestions, we felt good enough to start a saltwater tank and WOW very expensive!!!! We are having a lot of fun just watching the hermit crabs right now and our one lonley Three srtiped damsel! All is going very well. The fry have some color and the parents are very good! I think we are losing a couple to the filter though because the daddy fire mouth attacks it every now and then. But as soon as I can figure out how to post pics then I will get some up!!

Would wrapping a layer of fishnet netting around the filter intake and securing it tight with a rubberband help?
