Raising convict babies

Hi All! Just wondering about raising babies? I have a pair of convict cichlaids who are at it like rabbits (every few weeks i get a new batch of wrigglers). I have tried raising some with moderate success and selling them to my LFS however with all the night time activities of these pair i cant keep up! Just wondering what the general consensous is on this? Should i let them be and get devoured by my other fish (which goes against my persaonal beliefs) or is there a way of stopping them from mating apart from seperating them? thanks .. all replies are more than welcome! oh.. my LFS dont want the wrigglers

Do you have any fish or cichlid clubs? Would those local stores that would want to buy the young convicts once they're old enough and not wigglers? If so, maybe you could setup a tank to raise the fry in until they're old enough to sell and pay for that tank setup.

Well my opinion is little different.

U may not like it.

I Always see things through mother nature. In nature the fries will b eaten by d big ones.

Just give them d chance to hide themselves n live if they couldn't n gets eaten it's natural...

If u can establish a new tank for them or give them to ur frens or even sell them it will b much better.

But it will b much difficult to establish new tank for ever growin babies..

I tried but couldn't. Now i leave them in the same tank.

I'd let them get eaten...convicts are a dime a dozen. Or separate mom & dad. Our lfs store prefers you bring in uncommon species so convicts are hard to get rid of.

leave the babies with Momma and Pappa. They're like birth control, really. Yes, rabbits do breed like convicts, but convicts have more babies at once. LOL

I have a pair that won't breed right now. I put them in a bare bottom tank, with only a flower pot to hide in. They don't have anything to dig, so they won't breed...I hope. I'll be getting rid of the pair early next month...a friend of mine wants them to produce food for several of his fish. I need the same thing, but not nearly as much as they are producing.
