Babies - lots of babies And new to the forum

Do I have to keep my mating pair seperate from the other Dempsey's? I had all of them together and got a larger tank. Right before the tank arrived, my surprise when we discovered eggs in the tank and an aggressive momma! We moved the others out into the new tank but the pair is in with the new babies (pictures coming)We did not know we were going to have over 200 (last count). Can we move this pair into the bigger tank with the rest whom they have grown up with? And if so how old do the babies need to be before we can move the parents?

I've not had JDs, but I believe they'll be very protective of the eggs and young fry, so it would be best to keep them seperate from the other fish until the fry are about 6 weeks old and ready to go wherever you have planned for them.

Hi, If you click on the link at the top for freshwater aquarium fish, it will come up a list of all threads to species specific categories. Click on cichlid, then on Jack Dempsey. There are people that have posted there on breeding, and the requirements.

Sounds like you already are doing a lot right! Congrats!
