floating plants.. real or artificial are a good hiding place for guppy fry. we have one of those floating artificial grass squares that we picked up at walmart and the fry go right for it.

Mops are for fish that lay eggs. In a livebearer breeding tank you just want lots of places for the fry to hide in, so lots of fine plants (fake or real)-they seem to like floating ones.

I agree with the floating plants. I use java moss, which grows quite quickly and provides lots of hiding places. But I also try to have a fry tank, and don't keep all the fry in with the adults all the time.

My experience is with mollys and platies though. I keep a 10 gallon tank for them to give birth, then after resting for a day in that tank (all set up with the java moss), I will pull the mom out and put her back in the regular tank. Then the babies have a month to grow, unmolested.
