I think today might be the day...
This is regarding my kribensis kiro & coresean; I think today she might lay eggs again for the second time. For the last 4 days she has been digging out her flower pot cave religiously, she's always in there scrubbing away. She's fattened up a lot again, and yesterday I saw the first signs of an ovidipositer... today it is deffinately there! I took a few pics this morning since I figure if she does lay eggs I won't want to take any then to upset her or for the fry when and if they hatch. I really hope they are succesful this time! In the second picture you can see her ovidipositer, and in the third that is the cave she has dug out over the last 4 days, note the piles of sand out the back!

haha yah that's what I thought last time... pretty much as soon as she lays the eggs I'm not even gonna make eye contact with her! Taking no chances on stressing her out this time, everything is ready.

YES!!!! THEY ARE SPAWNING AS WE SPEAK!! omg omg so cutee!!! the female first was breathing all hard and looked kinda stressed, the male keeps circling the top of the flowerpot cave, then he swims in beside her after a bit then she comes out while he does his thing, then she goes back in.... they've repeated this about 5 or 6 times now! Do the males fertilize each egg individually? I saw her actually "lose" an egg when she swam out one time, right outa the ovidipositer, it fell on the top of the cave and the female swooshed it back in with her mouth, dunno if she was trying to save it or get rid of it, but they deffinately are spawning! And the male is doing his job so I know they'll be fertilized I'm so happy for them, they look like they've been doing this for years, it's like a dance or something as lame as it sounds, one in one out... swirling hehe!! Has anyone actually ever witnessed a spawning? I didn't think they would do it with me watching but they seem totally unaffected by my presence. I got two short vids of them comming in and out of the cave but I'm too excited to upload it right now, I will later. I wonder how long this whole process takes? The female still is fat, but she's slowly shrinking each time she comes out which is about every minute or so when they switch places... does anyone know if the male fertilizes them each seperatley? for some reason I thought they would do it once the whole batch was laid... I'm so excited!!

haha yes I am, I'm just checking on the pair every couple minutes, they've been going at it for a while now... I got dinner ready for when they're done female is skinnnnyyy haha, she's like flat. I wanna feed them so bad but I will wait. I'm pretty sure they laid them on the exact same side of the pot as last time. I wanna peek in there with a flashlight but I think just to be safe I won't even do that till about 2 days from now. I am 99.9999% positive there is fertilized eggs in there so why even take the chance. I'm so happy

okay so they are done, I fed them she's still looking a little ancy, male is gaurding from the cave nearby. every once in a while he takes a tour through the cave, then the female kinda gets mad at him when he comes out. silly fish, I can actually see some of the eggs even without a flashlight. yay!

I haven't actually seen my spawn b/c they did it in the pot & I couldn't see...but the flirting and the dancing before I found eggs was very intense & cute.
I have only seen my angels and my LM african cichlids actually spawn.
I hope it works out this time.

hmmm day two.... okay there are still eggs but shes making me nervous, it looks like she might of ate a few, i could be wrong tho, there was just some strays on the outside of the patch where and now there are less than before... I dunno, do they selectively eat some if something is wrong with them? I'm nervous, but they still are there.

They do eat the unfertilized eggs, as do all egg layers.
