When can fry mate??

Hi, this may have already been asked and answered somewhere but I've not been on in awhile and there are so many posts to read through...

I have 11 mollie fry that have made it so far...(see some of my other posts.) I have moved 6 of the bigger ones into my 10 gal. tank with my male platy and 2 female mollies (the momma's.) I can tell on just about all of the fry which ones are male and female and I know I need to separate the males soon, I just don't know when/if they are old enough to breed. They were born sometime around the 2nd week of August. I'm not sure the exact date..I didn't even know I had bought pregnant fish. So, it's been about almost 3 months since they've been born.

I currently have four smaller ones remaining in a 2 gal. tank but I know once I separate the males from the bigger tank, away from the females, I won't be able to keep them in that tank for very long.

So, long story short.... question here.. at what time are the males able to breed with my older females and when are the younger females able to get pregnant. I really do not want any more baby fish.... thanks.

Jaime

I'd say as soon as you can determine the gender with livebearers, seperate them. they should be fine together until then, but with livebearers don't take chances.. those underwater rabbits are something!

It sounds like time to seperate yours.

they should be fine for a while yet
we have three yellow mollies two f and one m
theydidnt start to breed until they were six months old
when the male starts chasing the females or becoming very aggressive toward the others then you no theyve matured
