Safe to rejoin mother

My guppy recently gave birth to a batch fry. About how long do you think it would be before the fry can rejoin their mother and my other fish in the main tank?

Re: Safe to rejoin mother

What other fish do you have in the tank? I think it depends on the size of their mouths.... I have all guppies in a tank and I waited until they were 2 months just to be sure, but I'm sure others have a more definitive answer...

I agree with Mlinden. Basically, the big question is: can the fry fit in the adults' mouths? Is so, they're not ready.

I agree, size is everything when it comes to this. I tend to wait about a month-2 months. But sometimes they will grow faster, based on dietary quality, water conditions, etc.

yea, livebearer fry are snacks until the adults can recognize them as tankmates rather than energetic food. how big is the tank and how many fry do you have?
