hi! just wanted to share......my otos had babies on the 22nd. this is the second time they had them, unfortunately the first little guys got eaten by other fish. the otos are now in their own tank and doing quite well. there are approximately 25 fry and i'm happy to say they are getting bigger every day. i have been taking pictures and if i can get this to work, i will attach them. i would like to know if anyone has any idea how often these guys spawn. the last fry were laid just two weeks prior to these. any information would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for the links....i want to try to find out how often they spawn and their growth rate. they seem to get bigger every day, but i have noticed that they don't really look like their parents. they have vertical stripes now so i'm wondering if they will change over time. guess i'll just have to keep taking pics and wait and see!

Wow, sweet. To actually breed them. I dont have any luck with otos. Mine either died or disappeared.

Super pics! that's so cool to have baby otos! i'm not sure how often they spawn, but those links Allie posted should set you up with the info.. we tried having otos once, but they didn't make it past the 1st month.

hi tom,
the first time she laid eggs, i saved 31...26 of which were born, 21 survived. sadly, only to be eaten by other fish. they are in their own tank now and this time i really couldn't tell you how many eggs there were (sorry). i counted 43 fry at one point, but as of today, i can only "find" about 25-30.

OMG, you're so lucky. Only 2 of our fry made it. And she never laid eggs again.

Wow! That really is a special thing to have your otos have fry ONCE nevermind multiple times! Good for you! And great pictures!
