Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen what looks like raised scales on the belly of a pregnant white molly??

It's not dropsy; I know some may write this but I've seen dropsy first hand (RIP Mr. Darcy) and this definately not it. I think she is pregnant as her belly is somewhat big... very different from my orange molly that I thought might be pregnant but no babies so far... she's just got what looks like goose bumps on her belly and it's only in her belly area and it's not even covering the entire belly, just a few of them. It doesn't look like any disease. I've been very careful to watch for any signs since my dropsy days...

Anybody seen this kind of thing on their white mollies??

Ok, well here's what I could get. She's in the breeding net and she kept moving around and I can't ever seem to get my camera to focus really good on these guys. They're not great pics but you can kinda see some of the raisedness that I was talking about, almost like goose bumps. And it's not all over like dropsy. God I hope it's not dropsy...

Please tell me what you think

That doesn't look at all like dropsy, but i've not seen it before.

Does this description fit her?:
Scratching, small gold to white spots, loss of color, weight loss, difficulty breathing due to gill damage.

if so, that's velvet and can be treated with parasite meds.


Darting, scratching, small yellow to white spots dusting skin. - if this fits her, it's oodinium and same treatment.

No, none of those descriptions fit her. She's fine in every other way as far as I can tell. What's weird is her belly doesn't always look big though. Today is has been looking like normal. I put her in the breeding net last night but I let her back out tonight cuz she looks normal.

I just thought the spots looked funny but you know maybe it was just the light and the way it reflected off her or something. Sometimes I really just don't know.

Heck, neither one of them could be pregnant for all I know and here I am racking my brain trying to think of things to do for them and working my butt off trying to get everything all set up and stuff!!!

I've seen that on guppies. Raised scales that kinda look like a bunch of round to octagonal goosebumps almost? I've seen it in our larger female guppies about two days before they drop. If you moved her to the breeding net the last day before she was to drop she could've gotten stressed and lost the whole batch.
