| Re: african cichlids what type of cichlid do you want to breed? if you mean Mbunas, they grow to a length of 1.5" to 2" in a few months, and they will sometimes begin to breed a few months later, when they've grown to about 2" to 2.5", but usually start breeding when they're about a year old and have grown to about 3". How long have you had them? |

| Re: african cichlids I know that Kenyi males are sexually mature when the full yellow color is achieved. They are a mouth brooding species and the fry are released from the female's mouth in about 3 weeks after fertilization. |

From my understanding that if they eggs are lost that they die off. They are mouth brooding cichlids. |

| Did you have a gang valve on the line to the tumbler? also, would it be possible to place a round air stone at the bottom of the tumbler to create smaller bubbles? Quote:

I had a male & 2 females who were both holding at the same time all the time. |

| I've read that if you increase the temperature to 78-79 degrees this will initiate breeding in them. |

| I have two electric yellow labs and i believe one of them is female and holding. I just noticed last night that it has a bulg in its throat and has not opended its mouth. I suspect its female because it does not have the black on the underside that the other one has.
Also acouple of days ago it was very cold for this area and that morning i seen all my fish wiggling up against each olther. I think they just now got big enough to be able to spawn. |

| My Yellow lab is still holding. So its been at least a week. She is starting to look very skinny but doesnt seemed stressed. I would move her but i dont have a suitable tank to put her in. Would any one recommend a breeder box? The other fish seem to leave her alone and dont chase her.
Those links were very helpful thank you. |

| place 2 other rocks on either side of it and lean it on them. ooorrr put alot of gravel around it or find the longest and most flat spot on it. |

| I gave up and re-did the waterscape, I replaced the holey rock with river tortillas that I stacked!I still run the risk of them tipping over but they are not as hard or dense as the holey rock. I posted a video on u-tube if any of you all want to see it!
I am listed as bandito974 |
