So today im downstairs checking out my tank when wham my male blue ram comes up to the glass and starts trying to nip me even though im outside the tank, then i notice a huge dip in the substrate next to my thermometer. I look closer and i realise my female blue ram is vibrating herself against the substrate i look even closer and there are tiny little eggs, the same colour as my substrate ive got some photos but i dont think you can see the eggs very well i think you can see them mildy in the top photo the rest of my fish are trying to have a look but they make sure no one gets close not even me...

What do you feed your rams? Mine had never loked like that.

i feed em mostly frozen bloodworm but every so often i vary it with daphnia and so on. bloodworm are there favourite by far

When I get a chance later I will show you a pic of mine. He passed away a little while ago though. He was very timid though. Is that normal?

i dont know i think it varies mine were at first but now they are always first to food. They shoot up ahead of everyfish.

For me, I had harlequin rasboras, and black neon tetras in the same tank. They are very aggressive eaters.

the only fish i have who is as agressive at eating is the angel fish. sometimes my pentazona barb come up and get the food

What was the courtship method for the male? Do you know, I got a male and female yesterday and they seem almost ready to breed. I was wondering what the courtship method was for them. Is it a little spin around dance type of thing followed by a little bit of chasing and them checking out places in the gravel together and swimming almost in synchronization.

well after a couple of days in my tank my male chased the female round for a couple days when ever she got near then they would stay together and he would protect her for 3 days or so. while they find a place to spawn mine dugs themselves a nest / dip in the substrate they then take it in turns vibrating in the ditch then after 30 mins or so you should have a clutch of eggs thats what i found, unfortunately it seems they let my corys at the eggs. i dont think there are any left but i hope

Ya, I think mine are going to breed soon, they already have a little pit dug out and they guard it like their is no tomorrow. I can't get pics because of the location of the 'nest' which is below the filter intake and behind a huge piece of wood that I don't want to disturb now.

blimey as some of you have read recently i got another male blue ram and already it has paired off with my existing female they have dug there pit and defending it, i cant see any eggs yet but my guess is in a couple of days ill have some its so quick they didnt even chase each other round at all they've been so friendly to each other i only got him on thursday....
