My tank now has 1 guppy, 1 baby guppy (1 cm), 2 balloon mollies (m/f), and 1 male dwarf gourami. The baby wasn't born in my tank but given to me.

He/she survive a few weeks without a net and I've watched the fish interact. Usually they'll just shoo it away but they don't chase it at all.

Today I added the gourami and the second molly so I put the baby guppy in the net because they're not used to it and might eat it.

When do you think I can let the baby out?

actually what you need to do is take the day of the year that the guppy was born on, square it, subtract the number of gallons in the tank and then divide by 3.. that will tell you how many days old he has to be to be with other fish. seriously, Carol's right.. once they're not looked at as a snack by the other fish, they can go in with them. they'll have to learn to fight for their share of food, but they'll do that pretty quick.

I released Big Lou today. SO far, he's just hiding but I hope he's okay and doesn't get eaten. He survived in the tank before with 10 female guppies and 1 balloon mollies and they never really bother him... I'm just more worried about the new fish I added, like the gourami.

He's been released, out of the cage for 1 whole day now and he's made it!!
