Puffer for Brackish Tank

I am currently putting together a 75 gallon Brackish tank. I already have a list of fish I woul like to put in the tank but I was wondering if there were any puffers out there that would be ok in this tank. The stocking so far(in my head) is.

2 Columbian Sharks
1 Panthery Goby
2 Green Scats
3 Monos

Not sure how aggressive puffers are. Let me know what you guys think.

Technically your 75g would be fully stocked with only 1 columbian shark

Yea maybe, but they are better off in my tank than with 40 other fish in a 30 gallon at the LFS or in the tank of someone who does not do research and puts 3 of them in a 10 gallon.

I understand that in the future they will overstock my tank(they will get bigger). But they will not be 12" in a few days. It should take a while for them to even exceed 8" and at the rate I am going I will probably have the resources and the want to give them a much bigger tank. If I can't care for them then I will donate them to the LFS or someone who can take care of them. But either way they will be much better of in my tank until they grow.

New Stocking ideas.

-2 Columbian Sharks
-2 Scats or 3 Monos
-1 Panther Goby
-1 Figure Eight Puffer
-Maybe some sort of livebearers

Some fish can grow amazingly fast.
I highly discourage keeping them in such a small tank, I think it'd be better to wait until you actually have a larger tank to get them.
But, it's your tank I suppose.

Scats will get at least 12" each, and are schooling fish.
Monos need SW as they mature, which the other fish will not be able to handle, and are also schooling fish. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...967&pcatid=967
Panther gobies are a bit poisonous, so be careful around them. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...32&pcatid=2532
Figure 8 puffers do best at 1.005 SG. They are fin nippers and though not as aggressive as the green spotted puffer, they are still quite a dangerous fish. http://www.fishlore.com/aquariummaga...gurepuffer.htm

I urge you to do intense research before you buy any fish. If you can't provide what they need right now, then buying them and trying to fix it later is not a good idea. Especially with puffers, which are highly specialized fish, along with many of the others you mentioned, weeks or months worth of research is needed to ensure you have all the info you need. In all honesty a puffer will do much better on it's own than with other tankmates that it will nibble on or be bullied by (depending on the indivdual aggression).

Please do lots of research. I know you want your fish to be happy, and the more knowledge you have, the better you can care for them.

Sounds great. Like you said, I read up on some puffers and figure eights are less aggressive but I probably will stay away from puffers in general as they are very unique.

As for the other fish, the reason I named all of the fish is b/c there isn't any other brackish fish out. The fish i really want is a columbian shark so maybe I will tone it down to one of those guys and then do some research on the others. I just do not want this guy to be all alone in this tank.

Maybe you could get one Columbian shark and then just add a few mollies. The mollies will be easy to rehome when the shark gets too big, and they're really fun and social fish.

Sounds like a good plan to limit things to the one shark in that size tank. Because they are very active fish, and because they eventually need full marine water (the young start upstream in an estuary, then move out to coastal waters as they grow older) they don't do well with other fish, and if they are kept in groups, they need plenty of space to chase each other around. They could even end up leaping out of the tank.
