| | Fish Bum | Oscars and blue lobsters are they good together? I'm watching someones dogs this weekend, but thats not it, these people have
3 oscars
3 painted turtles
1 blue lobster
I asked the guy if he ever has problems with fighting, and he said no.
So what I'm asking is do you think this will work if I do this, but it would just be a 50g with two oscars and one lobster. |

| | Fish Master | eventually the lobster which is a crayfish, will get eaten by the Oscar. Crayfish are common live food for Oscars.
Are all of those animals in the same tank?!?! |

| | Fish Bum | Yes I was amazed too. And everything was fine no missing fins or anything. |

| | Fish Master | The turtles eat fish as a part of their diet, so I would be worried for the Oscars. What size tank is this? How do the turtles get out to land to rest & to get air? |

| | Fish Bum | The oscars are bigger then the turtles so that might mean their safe. I'll measure the tank, but it is atleast 50g. There is a platform in the middle of the tank that the turtles climb on and the platform is always dry. |

| | Fish Master | Man, that tank is so overstocked. I feel so bad for thos poor animals. |

| | Fish Keeper | Cold blooded animal such as turtle should be out drying and basking under the heat lamp in order to warm up/regulate their body temp. And depending on the turtle, it can eat or take chunk out of smaller fish.
As far as Bue Lobster, i think it may become very expensive dish for Oscar as Amanda pointed out.
Because someone does it for how long(?), it does not mean you can have same success, even a temporary success.
Good luck if you are thinking of housing them together. |

| | Fish Master | Wow, that tank sounds very overstocked! Yes, eventually, the oscar will eat the blue lobster. At my LFS, they also sell reptiles, and they have a huge display with turtles, oscars, and other large SA cichlids. Everyone is healthy and happy, but then again it is a giant pond....not a 50 gallon tank. |

| | Fish Bum | There is a heat lamp right over top of the platform. The turtles are about 6 inches long(they been that big for 2 years so they may stay that small) The Oscars are just a little bit bigger. They are all healthy and swimming around. |

| | Fish Master | The Oscars can reach 13 in. if kept in healthy conditions. It's sad that your friend has them cramped in a 50 gal. tank. |

| | Fish Bum | The tank is actually 75g and the turtles measure long ways are 4 inches. The oscars are 6 inches, and the lobster is full grown. The tank is a little cramped, but not as much if it was only a 50g. |

| | Fish Master | A 75 gal. ideally can house ONE Oscar. With maybe a couple small cichlids. |

| | Fish Keeper | Yeah, even if you can't help your friend, at least don't set up a tank like this for yourself. |

| | Fish Keeper | i would say that 50 gallons is the absolute minimum for an oscar, and i would move an oscar out of a 50 gallon once it hits 8 inches. you would need a 75 gallon or larger to house a yabby and 2 oscars. but if you had a 6 foot, by 2 foot, by 2 foot tank with a platform, i reckon you could fit 2 turtles, 2 oscars and a yabby or 2. also yabbies make plenty of waste but they are a good clean up crew for large fish like oscars and turtles, that's if they are big enough to fight back. |
