| | Fish Bum | Blue lobster and fish? I went to look at an aquarium somebody is selling me yesterday. I'm picking it up tomorrow. He got a bigger tank so he's moving all his fish into that one and selling me his 55 gallon. He's offering me some of his fish too if I want them. Corydoras, red-tailed black sharks, etc. And his blue lobster.
I was wondering if a blue lobster would be safe to put in with my fish. He has his lobster in with corydoras, both small and large tetras, sharks, parrotfish, some other kind of catfish, plecos, etc. and he says it doesn't bother them as long as everybody has hiding places.
My question is: Will a blue lobster be compatible with my fish? Corydoras, smaller tetras, otocinclus, blue rams, angelfish and/or discus, and maybe some loaches. I haven't gotten the rams, angelfish, discus, or loaches yet. |

| | Fish Helper | I read somewhere that you can't really put blue lobsters in with many other fish types... is this correct?
They really are something else. |

| | Fish Keeper | i'm trying to find that answer as well, my uncle reckons they can live with fish. he is giving me some. the ones i'm consured about is really just my angelfish, kuhlies and a clown loach, cory's and a small bristle nose.
i'm gonna try it and if the yabby tries to attack the kuhlies or the corries they can just go in breeder tank.
also a lady at the petshop said they can as long the tank is large enough and there are a lot of hiding places and plants, but i still want a third opinion.
if you get a good answer, let me know |

| | Fish Lore Newbie | my blue lobster shares my 55 gallon tank with a pleco, a small bulldog pleco, 4 corys, 8 glowlight tetras, an opaline gourami, 1 angelfish, 1 silver dollar, an armoured filter shrimp, 10 ghost shrimp, 1 molly, 2 upside down cats, 1 clown loach and a reed fish.. no problems what so ever! i think it depends on the lobsters personality.. he was the last 1 introduced when he was about an inch big. He is now almost 6 inchs and still doesnt bother a single fish! Last edited by CraigyD; May 12th, 2009 at 04:00 PM.
Reason: missed out a fish |

It's Scout's thread asking about a blue lobster and I believe the situation has been resolved. |

| | Fish Lore Newbie | I have a blue lobster that is about 4 inches and I have 2 small bala's and a pleco that was 5 inches and he ate her. Everything except her head. I got a new pleco that is bigger and have been feeding my lobster a lot. He loves night crawlers. |

| | Fish Lore Newbie | I've just added my blue lobster, he hides away under my bridge pretty much all day.
If anyone goes near her, she taken a swipe,m but the lady who sold me the lobster said they fish learn to avoid the lobster, and the lobster would never be quick enough to get a fish.
so far everything is ok, i just feed it a algie tablet once a day, that seems to be the trick, very interesting really |
