First-off, someone want to remind me the proper name of a gourami's "feelers"?

Secondly is it terribly abnormal for a gourami to have "invincible" feelers? All my other gouramis have had the ends fall or snap off once in awhile, but Kiwi's (three-spot; gold variation) have never lost any of their length. They're about the same length as her body these days, in fact.

Ventral fins? I'm pretty sure thats what they are. Either that or pelvic fins.

And congratulations on having a gourami with perfect length feelers! *knock on wood*

You are lucky, cab we get some pics I want to see you gourami. Most of the time when they are in those small tanks at pet stores their feelers get broken and some times while spawnng the male can bend or break the females feelers.

My blue's feelers were nipped short a few times when my fish were still getting acquainted, but regrew quickly and now are perfect again (same for my dwarf gourami). Interestingly enough, my little honey gourami's feelers were never damaged even once, and he's the slowest AND most inquisitive fish in my tank.
