Just got two blue gouramis to add to our fish family and since this morning one of them has been sittin on the bottom of the tank not moving much and every now and then tilting on his side. Please tell me he not dying just adjusting to the new environment PLEASE!

He was harassing our baby red tail shark yesterday afternoon but now just wont get of the bottom of the tank.

He shares a large tank with 8 neon tetras. one pleco thats 4 1/2cm long, one red tail shark thats 4cm long, 2 platies, 4 guppies and two goldfish the platies and goldfish are about 3-4 cm long.And his mate from the pet shop is fine thriving and loving his new tank but hes just not.

He has no obvious injury's either.

Could you tell us what size the tank is and what your water test readings are please ?

ok we have a approx 80-90 lt tank our friend is going to do a test for us tonight. The gold fish were already in a tropical tank when we got them so didnt want to change it.

Gouramis apparently sometimes take some time adjusting to a new tank and may obsessively stay in one area till they feel safer. However Butterfly is correct water paramaters can suddenly change when new fish are added or other changes happen.

i Recently bought a new blue gouramis it did the sam thing for about a week, now it is as happy as ever. don't wory its just adujusting to the feel of a larger/smaller home now.

Test the water for ammonia. It's my experience that blue guoramis are much more susceptible to ammonia poisoning than other fish.
If it were me, I would get some ammonia detox chemical (like AmQuel) and dose the tank immediately, just to be sure. A bit extra water conditioner won't hurt the fish.
This could be a matter of hours difference. When I found my blue guorami on the floor of the tank, he was beyond help within 6 hours.

my blue gourami gets along fantastically with my red tail shark ... i'm prepping a 55g for them to share with 7 tiger barbs and 2 white skirt tetras

80-90 liters is a good range, fishkeeping isn't rocket science. What most of us list as our tank size usually is inaccurate, anyway, since it doesn't include gravel, driftwood, equipment, etc...
