Blue Gourami with Australian Rainbow Fish?

I have a 20 gal tank with a Blue Gourami and 2 black neon tetra. Would an Australian Rainbow fish be ok in there too? I can move the tetra to another tank if I need to (with more room, and other tetra), so I'm not too worried about that. My main worry is how the gourami and rainbow fish would get along. I've always been told / read that it's best to keep BGs with other fish of the same size & temperament, and this fish seems to fit the bill at first glance.
Thanks for your advice!!

PS. My fish tank info isn't up to date, so just ignore that

it depends sometimes on the fish. what is the gender of your BG because males can be highly territorial and females like mine are quite gentle and don't harm anything.

Rainbows get along with just about any community fish. But I would be more concerned about putting an A. Rainbow in your 20g tank tho. IMO it is just too small for this fish. I have three of them and the largest is almost 6 inches long and they are very active and need a lot of swimming room.
They may make your other fish nervous without a lot of room to swim around.

Australian Rainbows don't grow very fast. Mine took a few months just to reach 3" and I give a lot of food too!

I've kept A. Rainbows together with different types of Gouramis before, no problems. I've even kept Australian Rainbows together with Dwarf male Gouramis too.

Although it is a lot better to have a planted tank because that would give your fishes a lot of hiding spaces. So they won't have to deal with so much stress from each other if you ever put in an A. Rainbow.

I agree with CapeKate. I have several types of rainbows in my tanks (the larger species), and even though none of them are over 3 inches, they still need tons of swimming room. Also, I wouldn't recommend getting a fish that cannot permanetly reside in your tank. Maybe you should look into a schoal of Dwarf Neon Rainbows or Threadfin Rainbows. Both of those would be great in a 20 gallon
