I have a female blue gourami and I have noticed over the past day or two she gets crazy when we get near the tank and hides. I dont know whether something has scared her or what but she flies all over the tank and then hides, and that worries me that she is going to stress herself too much. Anybody got an idea of maybe what's going on with her? Also has anyone had any experience with gourami's eating other fish in their tank?n I have had 2 glofish disappear in the past couple of days and I'm wondering if it was her or my African Butterflyfish that has made a snack out of those cute guys and one of them was pregnant

Butterfly fish are aggressive and are predators of small fish that are surface dwellers.Its very possible that you lost your glo light tetras to the Butterfly.
Your Gourami may or may not be stressed by the butterfly, tho the butterfly usually will not bother larger fish.
My fish are skitish at times and I often wonder why. Sometimes its just the way they are. I have a Jack Dempsey that when ever I come near the tank it flashes all over the tank and hides. I always think its going to get hurt. I try to walk very slowly around that tank with no sudden fast movements.
How large is your tank? Do you have hiding spots for the Gourami?

I have a 55gal and she has plenty of places to hide, so I'm not sure what the problem is. My African Butterfly just hangs out behind the lip of the pump and doesnt seem to bother anything, I figure he was the culprit in the case of the disappearing GloFish. They arent the glo light tetras they are the neon colored Danio's that glow under black light. I moved them to their own tank and everybody seems to be very happy and healthy now. I try to do the same thing about walking near my tank slowly and it never seems to help, she just flips out and then hides.

You may want to try adding some floating plants. I'm not saying that will necessarily keep your girl from hiding, but gouramis love to spend time up at the surface in floating plants.

I have a few fake ones that float and she doesnt seem to care either way that they are there. She is a bit picky of how things have to go in the tank and she is definantly the queen of the tank.

My gourami freaks out too.. He bashes into things, and he hides all day long. I never know if he gets enough food or anything ): What I did was take a long-leaf plant and make a sort of "fort" for him. He seems to really like it, and I try to keep the glass covered there so he doesn't get all freaked out..

Where is the tank located? Sometimes if it's somewhere were the sun causes shimmers in the water, that can scare fish. At least, in my experience it's spooked them..
