Gourami aggression
I have two blue gouramis in my 55 gallon, and until recently there has only been a bit of aggression between the two, and they have left the other fish alone, other than being food hogs. Recently, i have added two angel fish to the mix, and the one gourami is nipping and chasing them, and has also taken to nipping at fish that he previously left alone. One angelfish has literally been almost scared to death! The angelfish is no longer swimming correctly, and is breathing irregularly. I removed both angelfish to a ten gallon until i can correct the situation. Unfortunately, i don't know if the one angel will make it through the night. I have it resting in my fish net which i have secured at the top of the tank so it contains the fish, but allows the fish to swim. Without the net, it gets sucked into the intake tube of the filter and is too weak to fight the current. Oddly enough the gourami that attacks the other gourami, is not the one that attacks the other fish. The one that gets picked on is the one acting out on the other fish. I was just wondering if any of this is common, because i read that they are usually peaceful towards other fish? I am fairly certain that i have two males, and that's why they fight with each other...
On a separate note, is it common for them to be total pigs. and territorial when it comes to food? I find myself having to feed extra so that the other fish get some food, while the gouramis are becoming quite obese. Their sides are bulging from the amount of food they eat.
