Gourami Changing Colour

Hi everybody!

First time poster here. I'm looking for some advice about one of our gouramis. We initially had three blue gouramis but one recently died. It seemed to turn a dark turquoise colour and then seemed to be staying at the top of the tank, gasping for air. I tried to isolate him but he began to swim around in mad circles and eventually died.

Now a second gourami has begun to change colour. It is now half light-blue and half dark-blue. The third gourami seems to be okay still.

Any advice as to what might be causing this discolouration would be appreciated.

By the way, we recently used an automatic feeder to feed the fish whilst we were away on holiday. Could something in this have caused the fish to turn a different colour?

Many thanks, and happy Christmas.

Andy

Sounds like Gourami disease. (Iridovirus) Not much is known about it but here's a link to a discription. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/FA035
I have had Blue Gouramis affected by it before. I don't know what you can do except keep the water extra clean. There's no meds for it, but you may try treating for parasites, fungus, and/or bacteria just in case. Sounds exactly like what mine blues went through and none of those treatments worked for them. I lost 2. Give that article a read, it might help.
