Is it OK to mix Gourami species?

I'd be more concerned about mixing too many males than mixing of species, since they are surface dwellers and territorial.

Unless there is a very large size discrepency the mixing of species --should-- not be a problem.

Do you need to keep the male/female ratio the same? One male (either species) and two females (either species?)

Actualy it is one Male Blue Gourami and a female Pearl Gourami but i plan on restocking the whole tank

just great. At first i only had a male Blue and a female pearl, than i added a a pair of Opalines and a female blue for my male. The funny thing is, my female pearl sulked aroud like she was sad that there wasn't a male pearl for her lol. But i ended up getting on so now she follows him around touching him all day with her feelers. . Amasingly there is no aggresion between any of them i am thankfull

Ive seen photos of adult male pearls showing some beautiful color and dots.

I have a 55gal tank that is all Gourami's. I have 3 Powder Blue Dwarf all male, 3 Pearl 1 male 2 female, 2 Female Opline and a mated pair of blue. They all get along well and so Far I have had no problems. The 2 Opalines are the only juviniles. I do plan on seperating a few pairs for breeding.
