| Walmart, what happened? So I was strolling through the Walmart website hoping for another of their 5gal starters. Or even their 10 gallon starters! Can't argue with a $30 price on those.
But when I saw it, i was surprised... they're NOT being sold in stores anymore?? Plus I don't even see a 10 gallon starter anymore! http://www.walmart.com/browse/Fish/A...atNavId=202074
And for that, none of the other tanks are being sold in stores either?
Plus! It seems there's a lot LESS as well? I remember, just a couple of weeks ago, there would be a lot in the pets section. It seems so stripped...
unless I pulled a stupid and just did something plain wrong.
We all know how they treat their fish yes - very very poorly. But I actually get a good number of supplies here for my fish and now...there's nothing left? And I haven't been in Walmart for a while either. Have they stopped selling fish as well?
Walmart, what happened? |

| They just started selling the 5g starter kits in stores near me.
They used to only carry mini bows but they've done away with them.
I've seen that "only available on line" statement before, only to find the product in the store. Last edited by Lucy; February 21st, 2010 at 06:05 PM.

| Yeah this is strange.
I'll admit I haven't been in my nearest Walmart for about a week. I'll have to go to Walmart and check it out again... last week, there wasn't the 5gal starter - but there were still the price tags. I just assumed it sold out on shelves. And there were plenty of other aquariums too.
I guess Walmart just has to fix their website? I do occasionally find supplies in their stores that are nonexistent on their websites.
My walmart also has sold the 5gal since about...as long as I can remember?
It would make sense if it was because of a "supply and demand" thing. The fish section is usually somewhat empty.
And I've never seen bettas in this walmart for quite some time, thankfully. But I do find a number of dead fish still. |

| See, mine does too...or maybe about half of that. Quite frankly, I'm terrified they've stopped selling that. If they really stop (here, at least), I am just gonna break down and cry. lol
As much as I hate Walmart's treatment, the prices don't joke around. Plus it's abnormally close to me. |

| I love that walmart sells tanks and most accessories (i.e. thermometers), you can't beat the prices and convenience. I just wish they would stop selling the fish.

| We have 1.5-55 gal tanks and starters at our Walmart here, but all stores don't necessarily have the same stuff...weird I know lol. |

| Our town had one of the best Walmart Supercenters for having a man running the fish department who actually knew something about how to run a fish department. The betta were kept in lovely little tanks and they were treated hemanely and the fish tanks were cleaned daily and there were never dead or sick fish in them. It was clean light and wonderful and they had just remodeled it and then they closed it down in a matter of days. No fish and very few fish supplies or tanks or anything for fish now. the fish stuff is totally segregated from the rest of the pet supplies and the area is hard to get to kind of like it has become the wicked stepchild of the store. I hate going there now so I pay to buy from an online supplier and buy everything including food for my fish from online sources as the stuff from out there is old and I have no idea how long it has set there. While I do understand the disgust that some have had with them, I really was very proud of our store and hated to see the fish go from it. |

| dude, i hate the walmart here! they always have atleast one dead fish per tank, and they are waaaay over stocked (more so than pet stores! O_o) and the poor things look like T_T i wont buy a fish from there unless im gunna rescue one from absolluty terrible conditions (like, its the last living thing in the tank and all its buddies are dead, or something to that extent) and whats reaaaly sad is that they cant even keep their aquatic plants alive! they always seem to have the prettiest bettas tho, for some reason, and it depresses me because i refuse to buy fish from them T_T i do buy supplies from there tho, and its were i got my 1st real fish tank (one of those ten gallon starter kits!). they have tanks all the way up to 55 gallons at mine, and have all kinds of accessesories and water treatments and medications. i got there 1st for things like that if i kno exectly what i need, but if i dont, i go the 5 extra minutes to PetSmart and talk to some who knows whatr they're doing lol |

| Wow. I've never even see starters! My walmart carries a couple tanks that are under 3 gal and a ten gal. A ten gal runs $14 without lid and no supplies, then they usualy have filter pads and a couple decorations, then fish flakes... nothing that nice! Would have got me a starter kit when I started my tanks if that was true, can't IMAGINE walmart selling a 55gal! |
