Haha got that right!! (But don't we all secretly!!??)

It's great to see so many people that have a strong opinion on this, it makes you wonder how SOME pet stores choose their emplyees. They certainly don't complete a compassion and morality survey anyway!!

Tiger: I think they pass just the opposite a heartless survey so that they will do whatever in humane act the petstore wants them to do.

Elodea: I read the page. It is good to know that they do care. If only the action that could be taken could be more drastic.

Update on Andromeda. Last night joy!
I know from past experience that the bettas in that store are fed soley on live bloodworms and no pellets. So for the first week at home Andromeda rejected the pellets as food. Last night she decided to eat and like them and due to their tiny size she could eat them! She polished off every pellet in there and some bloodworm too! Things are looking up! She is eating, my little rescue will be well!

They sure are fighters, aren't they?
Good to you for rescuing her and I'm glad she is doing well! I can't believe what a cold heartless b.... the employee was. I would have been furious if something like that happened to me!

What a heartbreaking and heartwarming story! So glad to hear that you saw Andromeda eat!

How can people be so heartless? I don't think there would be anything against FishLore policies to post the name of that store so we can boycott it if need be. Perhaps it's just the one woman (who was hopefully fired), or perhaps the store manager, or perhaps the policies of a chain.

Makes me wonder if on her employment application they filtered out people who would not do something like that. Keeping a sick fish would cost dollars. They couldn't count on a caring person like you to come along. Sick animals for sale cost money. To some people, money is more important than life.

You did the right thing by not wringing the woman's neck as she was prepared to do to your fish.

Glad to hear she's eating! Hopefully with small bits of food she will be fine

I think that the woman is either a Manager or perhaps part owner. She is always there, every time I go and she seems to have the authority to make decisions.

The Employment Applications is interesting. The very day I was there they were advertising for a new sales assistant. They go through them CONSTANTLY. The are asking for a new one every second month. There must be something that their employees don't like.

Ok, naming names. Outside the place is called 'Aquarium' on a big sign out front. But I know that in the yellow pages and such it is listed under 'Aquarama'.
I have only ever seen the one branch of it.
I have just discovered that they have a website. They make themselves sound really good and provide some basic tips on fighter raising. Don't you love how they don't show the fighters in cordial cups or state their policies on a fish like Andromeda?

Well of course they're not painting themselves as having a nasty woman in charge, or taking poor care of their fish. Even a walmart fish department will talk itself up. They want people to spend their money there.

To be fair, though, that woman may not be acting on the store's official policies. If she's in charge, she may feel she can do whatever she wants. I'd say go to a supervisor and complain, but it seems she -is- the supervisor or close to it.
